CEDA Part of Coalition to Promote Safe Driving in Northern Alberta
July 28, 2010

CALGARY, ALBERTA—CEDA International Corporation (CEDA) is a gold level sponsor for the Coalition dedicated to promoting safer driving along Highways 63 and 881 in northern Alberta.

Hundreds of vehicle-related injuries and dozens of fatalities have occurred on Highways 63 and 881 in northern Alberta over the past several years. The highways have earned the nicknames Suicide 63 and Death Highway. People have blamed the tragedies on physical factors of the highway itself however highways do not cause accidents—people do.

The Coalition aims to eliminate the idea that people need to get somewhere as quick as possible regardless of the risks. The Coalition launched an awareness campaign to identify dangerous driving habits and encourage drivers to change their bad habits.  The “Tunnel Vision” campaign promotes safer driving habits through billboards, newspapers, posters, online and radio in communities throughout northern Alberta.

“We want everyone home safe every day,” explains Dan Richards, Senior Vice President, CEDA Northern Alberta operations. “Being a member of the Coalition is one more way we can demonstrate our commitment to the safety of our employees, their families and to the members of the community.”

The Coalition for safer driving on Highways 63 and 881 in northern Alberta is comprised of several leading companies. For more information on the member companies and their initiatives please visit www.safer63and881.com.
